Scott, Graham, Colleagues Introduce Religious Education Week Resolution
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) joined Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) in introducing a resolution designating October 2 through October 8, 2022, as “Religious Education Week” to celebrate religious educational institutions and the options they provide to families seeking the best education for their children.
“Each year, millions of families across the nation choose to enroll their children in religious education,” said Sen. Scott. “With this resolution, we affirm that decision and commit to ensuring religious schools can thrive alongside their secular counterparts. Families should be able to educate their children in the way they see fit, and religious schools play a large role in making that possible.”
The resolution is cosponsored by Senators John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Bill Cassidy (R-La.), Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), Steve Daines (R-Mont.), Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.), Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.), Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Rick Scott (R-Fla.), Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), and Todd Young (R-Ind.).
Organizations in support of the resolution include the Lutheran Center for Religious Liberty, Coalition for Jewish Values, Foundation for American Christian Education, School Time Bible Ministries, Association of Christian Schools International, Agudath Israel of America, Seventh-day Adventist Church, Christian Coalition, Alliance Defending Freedom, Christian Legal Society, Catholic Education Partners, Family Research Council, National Committee for Religious Freedom, and Catholics Count.
