ICYMI: Senator Scott Holding Biden Nominees Accountable

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) participated in hearings for Biden administration nominees to lead the Department of Education and Small Business Administration (SBA). He highlighted the human cost of Democrats pushing liberal policies that would further decrease opportunity for our children, workers, and small business owners amid the coronavirus pandemic.

On School Choice Double Standard…

Senator Scott pointed out that while elites in Washington are some of the staunchest opponents of school choice, they avail themselves and their families of the benefits of a high-quality private education. He noted that President Biden and former President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and several senators on the other side of the aisle all attended private school themselves or sent their kids to private schools. Quality education allowed these lawmakers to rise to the halls of power, while the poorest Americans are not afforded the same opportunities to achieve their fullest potential. School choice opens paths to success for all students. CLICK HERE to watch Senator Scott question Dr. Miguel Cardona.

On Job-Killing Minimum Wage Hike…

Senator Scott asked SBA nominee Isabella Casillas Guzman about whether she would be an ally to small businesses and workers in entry level jobs who would be crushed by an artificial minimum wage hike. He reminded her that more than 110,000 restaurants have closed their doors permanently amid the pandemic, and thousands more are hanging on by a thread. According to a Congressional Budget Office (CBO) study done using pre-pandemic numbers, a $15 minimum wage hike would wipe out nearly 4 million jobs. Those figures would likely be even worse now.
