Sen. Scott Votes to Support 9/11 First Responders

WASHINGTON ­– Today, U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) voted for legislation (HR 1327) that supports 9/11 survivors and first responders by authorizing them to receive full benefits by reauthorizing and permanently funding the 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund. The measure passed the United States Senate with a vote of 97 to 2.

“We are forever grateful for the first responders who willingly rushed to save lives that had been shaken by the heinous attacks on American soil,” Senator Scott said.  “More than 75,000 men and women are receiving medical treatment as a result of their heroic acts 18 years ago, and we will never forget their sacrifices. I’m proud to join my colleagues in supporting this legislation.”

Currently, there are over 95,000 responders and survivors, including more than 600 in South Carolina, who are living in every state and 434 of the 435 Congressional districts.
