Scott Statement on Confirmation of New Defense Secretary

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) released the statement below following his vote to confirm Dr. Mark Esper as Secretary of Defense. Esper’s confirmation passed the Senate by a vote of 90-8.

“In an ever-dangerous world, it is critical that we have an experienced, thoughtful and decisive Secretary of Defense,” Scott said. “Dr. Mark Esper has served our nation admirably in the military, as well as the executive and legislative branches, and I know he will continue to do so in his new role.”
