New Obama Ozone Regulation Proposal Bad Idea for Families and Businesses

Charleston, SC- U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, released a statement following the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) announcement to enact new job killing regulations on ozone:
“As families across the country prepared to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, today’s announcement by the Obama Administration is another clear sign that they are willing to sacrifice jobs and growth in the name of unworkable environmental regulations that will hurt families and business – large and small.
“Nationally, these new regulations could cost $270 billion per year and jeopardize millions of jobs as our economy continues to recover. In South Carolina alone, the new regulations could cost over 37,000 jobs per year and more than $41 billion over time.
“Affordability for families and businesses need to be at the center of all new policies by the EPA, but sadly it is not. The EPA must immediately reconsider their current course and work to better balance our country’s environmental protection with our economic growth.”
