Senator Tim Scott Applauds Supreme Court for Hearing NLRB Case

Washington –U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) responded today to the Supreme Court’s decision to hear a case challenging President Obama’s so-called “recess” appointments to the National Labor Relations Board. The President’s appointments to the NLRB have already been ruled unconstitutional by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. Last month, Senator Scott joined other Senate Republicans in filing an amicus brief asking the Supreme Court to consider the legality of the President’s NLRB appointments.
“President Obama’s attempt to bypass the appointment process and stack the deck at the NLRB was unconstitutional,” said Senator Scott. “The anti-business activism of the NLRB has made it harder for our economy to turn the corner and more difficult for folks to get back to work. We need to undo the burdens placed on our job creators by the NLRB and I am pleased that the Supreme Court has agreed to hear this case. I am hopeful that the court will agree that the President’s appointments are unconstitutional and the board’s recent actions are invalid.”
