Thank you for your interest in the Senate Page program. The Senate Page program allows high school juniors to experience the daily workings of the U.S. Senate while continuing their academic studies. You can find more information about the program, requirements, and my application below.

Program

During the fall and spring sessions, pages attend classes at the Senate Page School. Following classes at the Senate Page School, which extend until 9:45 a.m. or one hour prior to the commencement of the Senate, Pages report for duty to their respective cloakrooms and work until 4:00 p.m. or until the Senate adjourns for the day, whichever is later.

Fall and spring pages are required to live in the Daniel Webster Residence Hall located on Capitol Hill.  Staff includes the Page Program Director, Administrative Specialist and five proctors. Proctors reside full-time in Webster Hall. The living quarters include two floors, one of which is designated for young women, the other for young men. Each floor has a community day room for social activity.

United States Capitol Police maintain a 24-hour security desk and a provision that requires all individuals to present identification and all visitors and guests to sign in. Capitol Police patrol the area by car and foot regularly throughout the day and night. Webster Hall is monitored by a security alarm system and all emergency and safety measures required by the District of Columbia for community life structures are present and enforced.

During the summer sessions, pages can request to live with their parents or a relative in the area.

Requirements

• Must be about to begin, currently in, or just finished junior year of high school
• Must be at least 16, but not 18 years old
• Must have at least a 3.0 GPA 
• Must be a US Citizen
• Must have all required vaccinations (***including all required doses of COVID-19 vaccination administered at least 2 weeks before start date)

Application

Applicants can apply online through the link below. In addition to the application questionnaire, a resume, cover letter, writing sample, high school transcript, and 3 recommendation letters (minimum of 1 from a high school teacher) are required. All required materials must be received in my office by 5:00PM on the deadline day. The deadlines are as follows:

• Summer Session: March 1 at 5:00PM
• Fall Session: July 1 at 5:00PM
• Spring Session: November 8 at 5:00PM
