South Carolina is home to over 77,000+ miles of public road, over 9,000+ bridges, over 2,000+ miles of freight railroad, 480 miles of waterway, 8 major airports, and a major water port. Having served in local government, taught me that I understand that mass transportation is a local issue. Mass transit is very different in each state and very different in each community in those states.Instead of a one-size-fits all approach, we should empower communities to find local solutions to local issues and encourage public-private partnerships. I support reducing overly burdensome regulations and mandates so we can encourage innovation, spur economic growth, and maintain competitiveness. Market-driven solutions and reduced government intervention are key to unlocking the future of transportation.
