Scott Votes for CIA Director

Washington – U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) released the statement below after voting for the nomination of Congressman Mike Pompeo as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Pompeo was confirmed by the Senate 66-32.

“Intelligence is the first line of defense in combatting terrorism and in preserving our national security. We need a leader at the CIA who has a deep understanding of the complex issues and processes that go into analyzing the threats facing our nation on a daily basis.

As a West Point graduate, veteran and member of the House Intelligence Committee, Mike Pompeo is a very strong candidate to lead the CIA, and I was proud to vote for him today. Having served with Mike in Congress, I know he will pour every ounce of energy he has into keeping our nation and our people safe.”
