Hi y’all – Tonight, President Trump addressed our fellow Americans to a call for increased cooperation, common sense, and restoring the principle of compromise between our elected officials.
It is incumbent on us—those of us who serve in office—to lead by example and to fight for a more civil and fair America as we march forward into the future.
We are at a unique time in American history. We have an economy that has continued to reach new heights each month since President Trump came into office. We have had record low unemployment rate for African-Americans, Hispanics, and many Americans are benefiting from business and job creation.
We have unburdened small businesses and removed barriers to growth that has unleashed an economic revival across our land.
We have faced our opioid crisis head-on, and fought human trafficking here and abroad. We’ve worked in a bipartisan way to overhaul our criminal justice system to give people a second chance at life. We are fighting hard to secure our Southern Border.
We have done all this, and more, in just two years.
Moving forward, we must work to empower those who have been overlooked for far too long and invest in a more civil society.
This became the greatest nation on Earth because of the hearts and minds of the American people; the power and endurance of the American Dream; and the graciousness and strength of the American spirit.
The President has laid out an ambitious agenda for the next two years, and I for one, am looking forward to continue to build on the good work we’ve done.
