Sen. Scott Statement on the Democrats Obstruction of Emergency Funding for the American People
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Tim Scott released the statement below following Senate Democrats defeating an amendment to provide funding for communities affected by devastating natural disasters:
“There is a real urgency for Congress to pass a disaster relief package that allows everyday Americans, including folks at home in South Carolina, to rebuild after devastating events. The proposal for additional supplemental funding provided significant relief to South Carolina and other states affected by recent natural disasters, including $600 million for Puerto Rico requested by Democrats. I was proud to vote for a solid bill that would assist families during a critical time in their lives, but unfortunately, my colleagues on the other side are more concerned with playing partisan politics. I hope my Democrat colleagues will stop, think, and decide to do better for the American people.”
