Sen. Scott Statement on Third Anniversary of Fall of Kabul

WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.), member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, issued the following statement on the third anniversary of the fall of Kabul, which marked the start of a two-week series of events that led to the tragic loss of 13 U.S. servicemembers and the Taliban’s control of Afghanistan:

“The United States’ hasty withdrawal from Afghanistan was a strategic and operational disaster that led to the heartbreaking loss of 13 U.S. servicemembers and erased decades of progress that was hard-won by countless brave Americans, Afghans, and other partners. Three years ago, the world witnessed President Biden and Vice President Harris’ catastrophic handling of a crisis—a failure that has not only weakened our global standing and tarnished our nation’s credibility, but emboldened our adversaries. Their failed leadership must serve as a stark warning and never be repeated.”
