Senator Scott Statement Celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
NORTH CHARLESTON – U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C) released the following statement celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
“Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., dedicated his life to the noble cause of challenging a nation to call on our better angels, guiding us toward an America where we’re not judged by race, gender, or where we were born,” said Senator Tim Scott. “The Reverend’s vision was that all God’s children—no matter the color of their skin—would come together to bring us closer to the concept of a more perfect union. We are living in a time when the American family must unify behind that single purpose.
“While there is still much work to be done, we all owe Dr. King a great debt of gratitude for the incredible sacrifices he made, suffering he endured, and resilience he displayed to set us on the course toward justice and opportunity. I hope people across the country join me in celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. King, one of the most important Americans in our history.”
