Senator Scott Statement on Events in MN, NJ and NY This Weekend

Washington – U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) released the statement below following attacks this weekend in Minnesota, New Jersey and New York that injured nearly 40 people.

“I am certainly thankful that no innocent loss of life occurred due to these heinous attacks this weekend, and my heart and prayers remain with those injured and their families.

With ISIS claiming responsibility for stabbings in Minnesota, and authorities detaining a person of interest related to multiple bombs placed around New York and New Jersey, it is clearer than ever that we must remain vigilant in the fight against those who seek to harm us. I offer my sincerest thanks and gratitude to our law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line this weekend, today and every day to protect us all.

Defeating ISIS and groups who share similar goals is absolutely essential to keeping our nation and our people safe, and I will continue working to ensure we are doing everything possible to do so.”
