Senator Scott Statement on Zika and Veterans Funding Vote Today

Washington – U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) issued the following statement after voting to fund efforts to combat the Zika virus and keep our promises to our nation’s veterans today:

“The political games Senate Democrats are playing today, which are jeopardizing funding for Zika and our veterans, are completely unacceptable. As the Zika epidemic continues and begins to grow across our country, it is absolutely critical for us to ensure that health experts have the funding necessary to combat this issue,” Scott said. “Today I voted on a measure that would have provided $1.1 billion in funding, giving heath care professionals access to more resources in order to stop the virus from spreading further. Senate Democrats voted for this very same funding just over a month ago, and are now simply hunting for excuses to create gridlock. It is irresponsible, and their antics are putting women and babies at risk while jeopardizing the health of our veterans.”
