Senator Tim Scott Looking Forward to an Active #NationalSchoolChoiceWeek

Washington – U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), a leading advocate for school choice in the Senate, is preparing for a busy National School Choice Week, including a keynote speech, a Q&A session with students, and introduction of his Creating Hope and Opportunity for Individuals and Communities through Education, or CHOICE, Act. Senator Scott’s resolution supporting National School Choice Week was passed by the Senate on January 21.
“National School Choice Week provides a great forum to share how school choice has transformed kids’ lives around the country,” Scott said. “I have seen firsthand the incredible power of education, and it is absolutely essential that we ensure every student in every zip code across this nation has access to a quality school.”
Scott will be speaking at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) tomorrow morning, January 27th, as part of a forum entitled: “The school choice journey: A conversation featuring US Senator Tim Scott.” Scott will discuss the importance of school choice as well as the introduction of his CHOICE Act. RSVP’s for the event will be accepted through the end of the day today on AEI’s website.
Senator Scott is also scheduled to participate in a question and answer session with students at a National School Choice Week event hosted by Congressman Luke Messer (R-IN) on Wednesday morning in the Cannon Caucus Room. Messer is the Chairman of the Congressional School Choice Caucus.
Finally, Senator Scott has announced his “Choosing Excellence” school choice forum to be held on February 9 featuring Senate Education Committee Chairman Lamar Alexander (R-TN), Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rogers (R-WA), Congressman Messer, former U.S. Secretary of Education Rod Paige, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, Capitol Preparatory Founder and CEO Steve Perry, Friedman Foundation for Educational Choice President and CEO Robert Enlow and others.
