SC Sen. Scott praises economic growth at Hilton Head’s State of the Region

Hundreds of people showed up for the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce State of the Region Friday, including South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster and the special speaker, Senator Tim Scott.

Scott acknowledged that the country is in a time of great divide and said we need people who believe in the future of the country.

He talked about the great opportunity and economic expansion in the United States, highlighting the unemployment rate being the lowest its been in half a century, even better in Beaufort hovering 3 percent.

“The unemployment rate is lower than it is nationally, the national rate is at 3.7 percent which is a 50 year low. So… our community here is doing even better than the national average,” Scott told News 3.

Governor McMaster also spoke. He said this is South Carolina’s time to shine, praising the hardworking, reliable people of the state.

He pushed the importance of education, creating jobs, and keeping taxes low.
