Sen. Tim Scott marks 75th anniversary of D-Day with special event
WASHINGTON (WCBD) – South Carolina Senator Tim Scott on Tuesday commemorated the 75thAnniversary of D-Day with the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.
The special ceremony happened at the United States Capitol where he was joined by Senators Ben Cardin, Martha McSally, Tom Udall, Tim Kaine and Congressman Dan Crenshaw.
The program included readings and remarks from elected officials, representatives from the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and Mr. Steven Fenves, a Holocaust survivor who was liberated by American forces.
Tuesday, June 6th marks 75-years since the invasion of Normandy during World War II, often referred to as D-Day. It was the largest seaborne invasion in world history.
It was an operation that began the liberation of German-occupied France from Nazi control and laid the foundations of the Allied victory on the Western Front.
